Women’s heroic role in Resistance of the Age

In the Resistance of the Age, women from all components took their place on the front lines of the resistance. They faced the Turkish attacks on their land on 20 December, 2018 in a spirit of great revolution and committed themselves to it without retreat for 58 days.

They fought warplanes under Turkish bombardment

Mother Amina Mohammed, from the village of Gemrouk of Mobata district, participated in preparing food for the fighters, who were stationed at fronts.

The Turkish occupation’s aircraft not only had destroyed everything, but also targeted the mothers who prepared food for the fighters. In this context, mother, Shadia Najjar, indicated that during their gathering to prepare the food, they were subjected to many attacks and targeted by shelling, but they insisted on continuing to resist.

She supported the fighters and was a medicine for their wounds

On her part, mother Adol Mousa, mother of one of the fighters of the People Protection Unit, who resisted in Şiyê district of Afrin canton said "After the brutal bombardment on everything in our village, many of the families forcibly displaced from Afrin city, but I stayed with the fighters in Şiyê resistance". The attacks were brutally ruthless, the sounds of airplanes and the collapse of houses in front of us still lingers in our mind till today."

Mother Adol and her nine-year-old daughter prepared food for the fighters and she provided first aid to the injured fighters till the ambulance under the bombardment could reach the wounded and take care of them, since having experience in treating some wounds.

Mother Adol describes the Resistance of the Age as historic days, as women could resist and struggle in facing the Turkish violations.

She fights in the fronts and carried arms to protect Afrin

Amira Mustafa carried arms in the Resistance of the Age, she was a member in the Society Protection Forces-Women, and indicates that the resistance in the face of the Turkish occupation was a duty of all the people, and therefore I participated in carrying arms and heading to the fronts to participate in the Resistance of the Age.

Amira asserts that the bombing of warplanes and the use of the worst methods of war by the Turkish fascism was not an obstacle to their resistance, but they were more determined to withstand, and were inventing many methods to face the aircraft and the inability to target civilians.
