Kamiran Berwari: Demos in Başûr are result of 29 years of injustice by Turkish occupation

Turkish aircraft bombed the vicinity of Şeladizê town in the southern city of Başûr, killing four civilians. The residents of Şeladizê town demonstrated against a Turkish base, burning military vehicles and tents and expelling Turkish soldiers, they handed over the base to the government forces in Başûr Kurdistan.

On the matter, the member of the Kurdistan Patriotic Congress and the co-chair of the Popular Democratic Front, Dr. Kamiran Berwari talked to ANHA agency.

The demonstration is the result of the existing power

Berwari said that the demonstration of Şeladizê was the result of injustice and attacks of the Turkish state, he added, "The Turkish state has been carrying out attacks for 29 years on the territory of Başûr. We see the Turkish planes hovering daily over Başûr, the civilians are being killed and nature is being damaged. The shelling continues on Bahdinan. Since 1992, in addition to the fact that the majority of the areas of Bahdinan have Turkish bases, the demonstrations that emerged are the result of injustice and attacks launched by the Turkish state for 29 years during the year at least 23 civilians have been killed in Turkish air attacks on Şeladizê town and its surroundings.

There is no force behind the demonstrations

Berwari pointed out that there is no force behind the demonstrations that came out, and said that the people of the region demonstrated on their own initiative, and that there are no bases for the PKK among the civilians, but the Turkish state uses these arguments to start the attack. The Turkish state wants to expand into the region and occupies it.

NATO must break its silence on Turkey's violations

Berwari explained that the Global Coalition and NATO must not allow Turkey to occupy Başûr, "southern Kurdistan," and continued: "You have to remove Turkey from NATO , the international institutions to cooperate with the people of the region to get the Turkish state out of Başûr Kurdistan, NATO must no longer participate in the violations of the Turkish state and continues to silence towards it, the people of Başûr are being  killed by mercenaries and Turkish warplanes, the massacres committed by the Turkish state must be stopped.

Demonstrators did not take approval neither from the PKK nor from the PDK

Their goal is to rally the people against the PKK and convince them that the PKK is responsible for the attacks. The people of the region are well aware of these schemes and know that without the existence of PKK, they will occupy the entire Kurdistan region and the people there will be subjected to the injustice of the Turkish state."

There was great cooperation between Turkey and Iraq

There is great cooperation between Turkey and Iraq. Unfortunately, the Iraqi Security Forces do not protect the people of the region and the strugglers, but protect the Turkish presence in the region. Unfortunately, the Iraqi government has described the demonstration of the people of Şeladizê with bad names, even though the people of Şeladizê are patriotic and played a major role in the revolution of September and May and they are the basis of the revolution 70 years ago.

Kamiran Berwari said that the people of Başûr Kurdistan no longer accept submission and the existence of Turkish state camps and mercenaries and concluded, "The people of the region know very well that the war planes of the Turkish state and its mercenaries target civilians, so the people of the region rise up."
