Milîtan Dêrik: Women's revolution won in Kobani resistance

The Commander of Women Protection Units (YPJ) Milîtan Dêrik stressed that Kobani's resistance was launched by virtue of the women who fought IS, which is considered a great danger to the entire world, this great resistance attracted attention of international woman fighters to join of the ranks of YPJ.

YPJ fighters fought strongly against IS barbaric attacks on Kobani city in September 14, 2014, backed by the Turkish state, the great resistance lasted for 134 days, the YPJ and YPG fighters showed brave resistance among them the fighter Arîn Mîrkan who carried out guerrilla operation.

Kobani city was liberated on 27th Jan, after historical resistance by sacrifices of YPG and YPJ, the Commander of Women Protection Units Milîtan Dêrik said this resistance which lasted for 4 months, attracted attention of international woman fighters to join the ranks of YPJ.    

The Commander Milîtan Dêrik, commemorated the fighters who were martyred to liberate Kobani city from IS grip.

Milîtan Dêrik touched upon the pioneer role of YPJ fighters to confront IS attacks, and YPJ fighters played major role to repel IS barbaric attacks, which was launched against Kobani city, and carried out guerrilla operation in achieve to liberate Kobani city and its people.   

Milîtan Dêrik added that the steadfastness of the women in revolution has effected in entire world, and proved the women have special entity capable of defending their land and dignity.

Milîtan Dêrik pointed out that this resistance and this reputation gained by the units came thanks to martyrs who made their lives a bridge to prevent IS entering into Kobani.

She concluded her speech saying "Our resistance was not only military resistance, but we resisted the masculine authority that restricted women and deprived them of their role in society.”
