Commander: Whenever Turkey withdraws from our areas, peace to prevail

Dêrik residents offered condolences to the families of 4 martyrs, two of whom were fighters in the People's Protection Units (YPG), Jekdar Redor; the real name Mazloum Jaiman and Leşger Amed whose real name is Wani Malay, a fighter in the Women's Protection Units (YPJ) whose nom de guerre is Hira Viyan Amed; the real name is Songel Akti, and a fighter in the ranks of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) whose nom de guerre is Alan Merzouqa; the real name is Khalis Mohammed, and that in the condolence tent installed in Tel Koçer district, the hometown of the martyr Alan Merzouqa.

Hundreds of Dêrik residents came to the condolence tent that was decorated with the pictures of martyrs and the flags of YPG, YPJ and SDF.

The ceremony began with holding a minute of silence. Then, a speech was delivered on behalf of the military forces by the commander of YPG Şengal Tel Koçer. He said, "We offer condolences to the families of the martyrs and all our comrades on the fronts. Our martyrs are our moral leaders as described by the leader Ocalan. We pledge to continue their struggle and maintain their gains."

The commander added, "Turkey, which has instilled chaos and terror everywhere, claims today that it will establish a buffer zone on our lands in the north and east of Syria. We say to it when you withdraw from our areas, peace and security will be spread everywhere."

That was followed by several speeches delivered on behalf of Girkê Legê Council, Tel Koçer Council, Kongra Star and the Democratic Union Party (PYD). All the speeches expressed condolences to the families of martyrs, and pledged to follow the martyrs' footsteps and resist the Turkish occupation.

The ceremony ended with handing over of the martyrs' documents to their families amid slogans that glorify martyrdom and martyrs.
