Mohammed Horik or who is known among all the people of Aleppo as Abu Rawan, the commander with good morals and the resistant son of Aleppo who chose the path of struggle until he was martyred in defense of his comrades and his people. His belief in the philosophy of leader Ocalan has made his strong will a wall against anyone who tries to dare to strike the neighborhood.

His life before joining the freedom's revolution

The martyr Mohammed Horik whose nom de guerre is Demhat is from Qergul village of Belbele district of Afrin, the eldest son of his family that is consisted of five people, and born in 1978.

He grew up in al-Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood and went to the primary school in the neighborhood to leave the study later due to the poor economic conditions of his family and his tendency to work more than to study according to his family.

Mohammed then went to work in al-Sheqiyyef area at the age of 13 years in one of the spare parts to gain experience after many years of work. He and his brother Maher opened a shop for themselves and became traders of the industrial zone.

His brother Maher says, "We are proud of him for his diligence in work and the ethics with which he dealt with everyone. He is my older brother and my idol in this life. His martyrdom was difficult for us, but no one can reach the martyrdom unless the strugglers."

As the living conditions of his family improved, Mohammed married in 2005 and had three children from his first wife to remarry again and have two children, that is, he had three girls and two boys.

His joining and struggling within YPG ranks

Before the outbreak of the Revolution of 19th July in Rojava and then spread in the north of Syria, he joined the ranks of the founders of the People's Protection Units (YPG) in 2011, and when the revolution in Kobanî began in 2012,Abu Rawan whose nom de guerre is Demhat prepared the people of the neighborhood to form YPG in Aleppo and become a commander within its ranks in 2012.

Where he participated in all the battles that took place in al-Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood over the past 5 years. He fought until he was martyred. The mercenary attacks of the Turkish occupation army have been present since 2012 at the beginning of the battles with the mercenaries of Liwa Shohda Beder, and were called the battles of al-Hayyani in relation to the commander of these mercenaries Khalid al-Hayyani.

After the attacks broke down, Jabhet al-Nusra, supported by other factions, and that was consisted of 27 factions supported by Turkish Intelligence resumed its attack on the neighborhood under the names of the "Battle of Lebeiki Ya Okhtah, Fateh Heleb and others."

It was necessary to stop those bloodthirsty hordes through sacrifice, the martyr Demhat initiated to go to the fronts of fighting with his comrades.

His comrade Jamil Doshka said commenting on the guerilla spirit of the martyr Demhat, "He was a hero in every sense of the word, we never saw him as a commander, but he treated us as if there were no difference among us."

He did not abandon his principles

After the intensification of the battles on Beno village's front and the use of mercenaries for the tanks, the martyr Abu Rawan was asked to confront the clashes because he used the anti-tank missiles to stop the hordes of mercenaries. Indeed, Abu Rawan succeeded in breaking the attack after he fired eight missiles. As he did not change his site and was monitored with a thermal missile, he martyred on April 5th, 2016.

Their memory is immortal

When you stroll around al-Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood and ask about the martyr Demhat or what is known as Abu Rawan among the people of his neighborhood, you must hear about the heroism of that martyr who is described by the people of the neighborhood as a hero, and his image is hung in the street overlooking his home to keep his memory immortal in the history pages of resistance.
