Siblings believed in defense necessity, chose resistance way

Sheikh Maksoud neighborhood in Aleppo witnessed many events, revolutions directed to the neighborhood by the security forces of the Syrian regime and mercenary gangs.

In the beginning of 2012, with the start of the fighting in Aleppo or the so-called uprising, the residents of Sheikh Maksoud neighborhood organized themselves by placing protection barriers at the outskirts of the neighborhood and the main entrances to them in the form of alternating on each checkpoint depending on the sticks.

The attacks on the neighborhood had intensified day after day, two sibling fighters Serbest and Idrîs Jafer realized that they would make great resistance to protect their neighborhood in all its battles.

The two siblings, Serbest and Idrîs Jafer grew up in the village of Haj Khalil in Rajo district of Afrin canton in a national family in the Sheikh Maksoud neighborhood of Aleppo.

Idrîs was born in 1974 he is married and has 4 children. His brother Serbest was born in 1971 and has 6 children.

The two siblings joined the ranks of the neighborhood in the beginning of 2012, after organizing themselves in groups with the rest of the neighborhood. They participated in all the battles that took place in the neighborhood and fought with each other.

Children who joined their father

Serbest's son was a member of the Revolutionary Youth Movement, and as his father and uncle joined the ranks of the People's Protection Units, this cherished his will to join, joining the ranks of YPG in 2015.

During the attacks of the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries on Afrin canton, his younger son Salah wanted to join but was rejected because most of his family joined, but he did not rule out his decision and later joined.

The fighter Xabat who is at 22 years talking about his join" This is the right way in which I followed my father, the neighborhood was always exposed to the attacks and the bombing they wanted to control it, but we repelled them by our strong determination because we are here if we do not move, no one moves and protects us instead of us."

They were injured in the same year

In 2016, the mercenary gangs intensified their attacks on the neighborhood from 3 axes, Serbest and his son Xa bat took their place in the same front line, on the axis of the street between Sheikh Maksoud and al-Sakan al-Shababi and due to the heavy shelling Serbest was wounded in his abdomen.

We did not regret our decisions

The fighter Xabat, a father of three fighters in the protection forces who took the name of Xabat as nom de guerre, said in an interview with ANHA, "It is impossible to close the road of freedom for my children to preserve their soil and dignity, no escape from death, but dying to protect the earth and the homeland is more honorific, this day was a dream for me so I will not give up easily.”

He ended his speech saying "I will not regret my decision and my promise to protect my life and my people, whatever the cost of sacrifice."

In his turn, the fighter Idris whose nom de guerre is Zagros Afrin said that "We realized that the attacks on Aleppo were not delivered from time to time, so we joined the protection team at the beginning," We believed in protecting our area in which we grew up, we stood with each other until we foiled all the attacks."
