Israeli shelling on Damascus, left casualties

The Syrian regime announced that its air defenses confronted hostile targets launched by Israel at dawn on Monday. The Russian Defense Ministry also revealed that four Syrian soldiers were killed and six others wounded as a result of the Israeli bombardment.

A military source told SANA of the Syrian regime that "at exactly 01:10 am on Monday morning, Israel launched a heavy blow to land and air, and through consecutive waves of guided missiles."

The sources added, "Immediately, our air defense systems dealt with the situation, intercepted hostile missiles, destroyed most of them before reaching their targets and dropped dozens of hostile targets launched by Israel into Syrian territory."

While the Israeli army said in a statement that it hit "targets belonging to the Iranian Quds Corps inside Syria," warning at the same time Damascus "from trying to target the territories or Israeli forces."

The Israeli army did not say or make any statement on the details of the strikes, which followed the strikes on sites in southern Damascus.

For its part, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that Syrian air defenses dropped more than 30 winged rockets and guided bombs while repelling the raids carried out by Israeli aircraft last night.

Israel has recently launched numerous air strikes on military targets in Syria that it says are Iranian and weapons sites that are supposed to be handed over to Hezbollah.
