Bolton: Securing SDF is the basic "condition" for our withdrawal

"Associated Press" agency reported that John Bolton left the two-hour meeting on Tuesday morning at Ankara's presidential compound where he met with Ibrahim Kalin, the senior adviser to the Turkish president.

According to the agency, Bolton said he was "seeking assurances that Turkey will not attack the Syrian Democratic Forces in Syria, which allied with the United States in the war against ISIS."

Bolton stressed that the "condition" of the US withdrawal from northeastern Syria is to ensure the security of the Syrian Democratic Forces.

The success of this effort was not clear. Bolton was expected to meet with Erdogan, although it remains uncertain if they will meet on Tuesday.

The agency believes that changing of the timetable for US President Donald Trump's withdrawal of US forces from Syria has confused allies and other players in the region.

According to Bolton, US will first seeks insurances from Turkey that it will not harm the Kurds, for the first time by adding this "condition" for withdrawal.

John Bolton is accompanied by General Joseph Danford, the current chairman of the Joint Staff, and the International Coalition envoy against ISIS James Jeffrey.
