Sit-in Girê Spî enters on its 23rd day

After the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan threatened to launch an attack to occupy north and east of Syria in mid-December last year, these areas witnessed general alarm coincided with the announcement of the administration of the area of the general alarm.

All the cities witnessed demonstrations to express their rejection of threats, tents were setup in the vicinity of the Turkish border in the cities of Serêkaniyê, Girê Spî/Tel-Abyed and Kobani to emphasize the resistance in the face of any potential aggression and expression of rejection of the components of the area.

In the city of Girê Spî/Tel-Abyed, a sit-in tent was erected in al-Monbatah neighborhood next to the Turkish border on December 16, 2018.

Hundreds of Arab, Kurdish, Turkmen and Armenian citizens are flocking to the tent every day, the sit-in begins at 9:00 am and continues until 5:00 pm, despite the volatile weather conditions

When all the components of the people stand on their land and sit together under the roof of one tent, rejecting the Turkish plans and threats, this proves falsity of the Turkish claims, which have long sought to create strife among the peoples of the region on sectarian, ethnic and sectarian bases.

On the other hand, various activities are held every day in the sit-in tent. Sometime officials of Autonomous Administration areas of North and East Syria deliver speeches, and sometimes the entertainment and theatrical performances are organized to add a different color to the events in which the young and old participate.

The protesters are trying to show the truth to the whole world. They want to emphasize that the peoples of the north and east of Syria reject any Turkish interference in their territories and that they consider it an occupation and are fully ready to confront any external aggression.

Shadya Haj Saleh, one of the young women participating in the sit- in said, "We will continue the sit-in to express our rejection of the continuing threats by the Turkish state to our safe areas, we will not allow any external interference in north and east of Syria, which was liberated by martyrs' blood."

"It is true that the winter conditions are harsh, but that does not discourage our determination and will because we are one people and we seek to reach out to the whole world, we live in security and stability and we do not want foreign countries to interfere in our internal affairs."

The member of the Preparatory Committee, supervisor on activities of this sit-in, Fatima al-Hamoud, said the people are flocking to participate in the sit-in effectively.

Girê Spî/Tel-Abyed canton's people here express their opinion and want to reach their voice to the world to confirm that they do not want to interfere with the Turkish occupation state in the north and east of Syria."

Fatima concluded her speech saying "We will not accept anyone entering our land liberated by martyrs' blood, we are one people with all its components."
