Returning to Afrin is their only wish for 2019

2019 approached, 365 days passed holding with it many memories and changes on all levels. The people of Afrin in particular suffered a lot in 2018, unlike the rest of the world, where, with the first month of the year, they were subjected to the heaviest bombardments and all heavy weapons and warplanes, the young and old had resisted. This resistance was called Resistance of the Age.

Following the intensification of the barbaric shelling with the inhumanity of Turkish occupation army and its terrorist mercenaries against civilians, the residents welcomed the New Year away from their homes and properties inside the resistance camps in al-Shahba canton.

Mother Kadrat Batal said in this regard "In my life I saw a great deal of suffering and joy, but 2018 was very different for us and mixed with sadness and happiness. The injury of many civilians in front of our eyes has left a negative impact till this day and will remain in our hearts."

She wished that in 2018, the last years of bloodshed and fighting in Afrin and the whole of Syria and she appealed the UN and all the countries which claim to be defenders of human rights to put an end to the violations and attacks by Turkey on the territory of Syria and its people.

For her part, the mother Zida Abdo pointed out that they had resisted during the attacks of the Turkish occupation army and its terrorist mercenaries. Their resistance was stronger during the hot days under the sun and inside the tents, asserting that they will resist the cold and the suffering of winter believing in liberating Afrin during the next year.

The girl Yasmin Arous who has made an ornament of the New Year with papers and colored them with her school tools and wrote on them the name of Afrin, in addition, she and her mother put a tree in front of their tent, she said "I want to continue my education this new year in my school and my city " Afrin", I am sure that I will return. I made this ornament and tree to take them with me to Afrin. I will decorate my house again."
