Rashid Omar: Our forces are capable to deter any attack on region

Rashid Omar said that the military forces in northern and eastern Syria, primarily the People and Women's Protection Units (YPG and YPJ) rely primarily on themselves in fighting terrorism, defend their regions and are capable of deterring any attack. He called on the people to stay away from affecting by the psychological war factors of the Turkish government.

The statements made by the commander of YPG Rashid Omar came during the meeting held by the General Command of the People and Women's Protection Units in al-Darbasiya area for the people of the area in order to explain the recent political and military developments in the north and east of Syria.

The meeting began with holding a minute of silence, followed by a speech delivered by Rashid Omar, addressing the first conditions on which YPG and YPJ based, and the need to form these forces since the beginning of the Syrian crisis. He said, "At first, we relied on ourselves to defend our existence's areas and we began with dozens of young men and women of the Kurdish people to defend our people and preserve our areas."

He added, "Our forces have proven to the whole world how serious and effective they are in defending the region, how well they are organized, and that they are capable of fighting the most powerful terrorist organizations that have emerged in Syria and the world.

He noted that the political and military developments in recent times, especially after the American decision to withdraw from Syria have affected the whole of Syria, not only the north and east of Syria. "The US withdrawal from the region turned the schemes that were simulated against the region and took away all the pretexts which the enemies of northern Syria, the first of which Turkey that is the main supporter of terrorism used to allege by to attack the region."

Rashid Omar called on all the people to be patient and resistant and to support their people in YPG and YPJ in the face of international ambitions and to avoid the psychological and private war used by the enemy in the media.

Rashid Omar said at the end of his speech that their military forces continue to communicate with all the democratic parties that wish to protect the region.

After the talk of Rashid, the way opened for the audience to ask questions, and the questions of the audience focused on the fate of the region in conjunction with the Turkish threats to the region.
