The French channel "BFM" quoted Macron as saying "I deeply regret the United States' decision to withdraw from Syria." during a press conference with his Chadian counterpart Idriss Deby after talks in N'Djamena.

He added that "the ally must be trusted," and praised, according to the channel, the former US Defense Secretary, James Matisse, who resigned from his position a few days ago in opposition to Trump's decision.

The White House announced last Wednesday that the United States will withdraw its troops in Syria, saying that the US forces have completed their mission to eliminate IS mercenaries.

While other countries of the coalition, such as France, Germany and Britain, stressed the importance of continuing the work of the coalition until the elimination of IS completely, noting that the US decision was a surprise.
