Women on hunger strike: Leyla Guven has become our model

Under the slogan "Let's Break the Isolation, Let's Combat the Fascism to Live Free with the Leader Ocalan," the Democratic Union Party (PYD) organized a hunger strike activity in support of the co-chair of the Democratic Society Conference and parliamentarian of Democratic Peoples Party in Colêmerg city of Bakur Kurdistan Leyla Guven, demanding to lift the isolation on the Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Ocalan.

The hunger strike tent was set up in al-Siyahi neighborhood in Qamishlo city. Hawar news agency (ANHA) interviewed with a number of hunger strikers who confirmed their support for the parliamentarian Leyla Guven.

Ocalan appeared to save humanity from ruin and destruction

The mother Delal Bidûr confirmed their support for Leyla Guven, rejecting the policy pursued by AKP against the detainees in the Turkish prisons violating all international laws and covenants.

And added, "We, Rojavas' women, will still struggle till the last breath for the sake of Ocalan; the owner of the democratic nation's idea that calls for peace, democracy and co-existence among all components. Turkey fantasizes that if it imposes an intensive isolation on Ocalan, it can obscure this idea from us, but it does not know that this thought has been planted in our minds and became blood runs in our veins. Ocalan is physically imprisoned, but his thought is free.

'Events launched to support Leyla Guven will continue until fulfilling her demands'

For her part, the mother Wadha Hussein said, "Leyla Guven is right in her demand that achieving peace requires the achievement of the freedom of Ocalan. The isolation on Ocalan is the isolation on all peoples. The activities supporting the campaign of Leyla Guven began and will continue until the removal of the isolation on Ocalan."

At the end of her speech, Wadha said that the hunger strike will last for two days and that they will participate in various activities to break the isolation of the Kurdish leader Abdullah Ocalan.

Hêvîn Mohamed Hassen from Qamishlo city said in this regard, "We started the hunger strike today and we will continue such activities because we do not accept an intensive isolation against of leader Ocalan. We support Leyla Guven who has been on hunger strike for 30 days to break the isolation on the leader and support him, and we will resist until the last breath and will not stop until liberation of the leader and all our people who are existed in the prisons of the Turkish state."

Aisha Abdul Rahman condemned the Turkish state's actions and practices and said, "We condemn and denounce the actions of the AKP against the Kurdish people. It is attacking us and threatening our security and stability which we have gained by virtue of the blood of our martyrs, and the European countries do not care about that as if they are supporting Turkey and giving it legitimacy for its practices."

Aisha explained that the leader of the Kurdish people aims to spread peace and security in the Middle East, but Erdogan does not want so. He wants to restore the glories of the Ottomans at the expense of the peoples in north and east of Syria.

The aim of the events is to express our opposition to the policy of isolation

Salha Keleş said that such organizing such events is a duty that they, as women, have, and added, "With the presence of a woman, like Leyla Guven with her strength and strong will, there is no fear for women and women's organizations. Leyla Guven has become a source of strength and will for all women, and she by her hunger strike has challenged the Turkish state and its tyranny.

Salha said, "Leyla has become a model for us in her campaign to lift the isolation. Our activities to lift the isolation will continue in Rojava. We will be on hunger strike and hold other activities to achieve the goal sought by Leyla Guven."
