PYD: Closure of Freedom Movement offices does not serve Kurdish ranks unity

In response to the decision issued by the Kurdistan Regional Government to close the offices and headquarters of the Freedom Movement, the General Council of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) issued a statement in which it called for follow the language of dialogue and political means and developing a democratic atmosphere that allows political action freely and taking the national interest of Kurdistan over all other considerations.

The text of the statement is:

At a time when the Middle East and Kurdistan are undergoing structural changes that determine the fate of the region and its peoples for decades. These transformations require that we carefully evaluate them so that we can reach our peoples and our region to a state of stability and harmony away from the conflict witnessed by the region in general.

The role of the Kurds in combating terrorism and its leadership of change in the Middle East has always attracted the eyes of the world. The Kurds have been able to break the priestly creeds imposed on the peoples of the region as an fate inevitability, and we have been able, thanks to our determination, to remove the barbed wire in the minds imposed on us to divide and weaken us and tamper with the destinies of our peoples. Partial consideration of what happens to Kurds in every single part will not lead us to understand the dimensions of conspiracies being waged against the patriotic project of Kurdistan.

At such a time when the conspiracy against the Kurds is intensified by the regional forces to lead the brigade of change in the region, the realization of the Kurdistan National Congress becomes an urgent necessity and all developments make the realization of Kurdish national unity an important task that must be accomplished in order to thwart the conspiracies that are being waged against our people. Therefore, the authorities of Başûr Kurdistan to close the offices of Freedom Movement of the Kurdistan community is a step does not fit with the unity of the rank and the position of Kurdistan, and does not serve the goal of the unity of the Kurdish rank in general.

We as the Democratic Union Party (PYD), consider the step taken by the authorities of the region to close the offices of the Kurdistan Freedom Movement incorrect step and it is not serve the unity of the Kurdish rank, the cause of our people and also not in the interest of the administration of Başûr Kurdistan also, and call them to follow the language of dialogue and develop of a democratic atmosphere that allows political action freely, and taking the national interest of Kurdistan above all other considerations.
