Nasr al-Din Ibrahim: All efforts must be harnessed to unite Kurds through National Conference in Kurdistan

The aim of the attacks on Kurdistan, especially the Turkish occupation's is to strike the Kurdish national unity

The secretary of the Kurdish Democratic Party in Syria, Nasr al-Din Ibrahim, said in an interview with ANHA agency, "The Kurdish people and the area are going through a very sensitive stage. The Kurdish areas are subjected to various political and military attacks, in particular the attacks that have been launched on Kirkuk province in Başûr Kurdistan and Afrin canton in Rojava recently. All of them aim at striking the Kurdish national unity from several parties, in the forefront the Turkish occupation represented by AKP and Erdogan.

We support the strengthening of the relations among the Kurdish parties which is an urgent necessity

On the importance of the unity of the Kurdish row and the holding of the Kurdistan National Congress, Ibrahim considered the holding of this conference an urgent need to reach the unity of the Kurdish ranks and achieve the hopes of the Kurdish people. In this context, he said, "For the last calls of all the political parties and the preparatory committee of the Kurdistan National Conference (KNK), we, the Kurdish Democratic Party in Syria (al-Party), support and believe in working to strengthen the relations with the various Kurdish political parties in Rojava and the whole of Kurdistan, while respecting all the political visions of each party and every part. It is very important to work on real steps to hold this national congress. We consider the holding of this conference as an urgent necessity to unify the ranks to reach the aspirations of the Kurdish people at a stage during which the Kurdish political parties have recently been able to take very great steps in the public sphere.

The Party interests hamper the Kurdish unity

As for the non-convening of the National Congress and its obstruction, Nasr al-Din Ibrahim explained that the division imposed on Kurdistan into four parts within four countries, each of which has a different political specificity that negatively affects the unification of the vision, along with the division of the Kurdish street, the division of Kurdish political parties in addition to limiting the political parties' thinking in their political interests only and abandoning the Kurdish people's interests are what hamper holding this congress in spite of our ability in 2013 to form a preparatory committee for holding a National Conference of Kurdistan, bringing together the various Kurdish political parties.

In the context of his speech, Ibrahim explained some factors to establish a platform for the political parties to hold a successful congress saying, "Whoever leads the initiative must carry out their tasks, and believe in the need for each party to the other party, and must believe that all the parties aspire to access the Kurdish people to their rights of freedom whatever the system and orientations of any of these political parties of the future are."

Great responsibility lies with the major political forces

"The Kurdish Communities Union, Kurdistan Democratic Party and Kurdistan Patriotic Union must work towards holding a congress that unites the Kurdish efforts because they have a popular base, large military forces and wide relations through concrete steps in this regard." Ibrahim said.

Our mission is to harness efforts for national unity, put the people's interest in the forefront

He said, referring to the Kurdish Democratic Party in Syria, "We invite all the political parties, intellectuals and media institutions to direct and harness all efforts towards a national Kurdish congress in Rojava and Kurdistan, in general, sit at the dialogue table without conditions and restrictions and take the interests of the Kurdish people as a priority away from ideas and ideology that serves only the parties in addition to the need to respect the thought and direction of each party by the other.

He concluded his call to hasten the holding of a National Conference in Kurdistan which enables everyone to develop strategic and diplomatic plans and a force to serve the Kurdish people to face any attacks on any part of Kurdistan.
