'Women of North Syria played an important role in the revolution'

The administrator of Kongra Star Zaynab Shitka, pointed out that the Kurdish, Arab and Syriac women were able to struggle in all fields and played an important role in the revolution in northern Syria during a meeting on the occasion of World Day for Combating Violence Against Women.

On the occasion of the 25th of November, World Day for Combating Violence Against Women, Kongra Star organized a meeting in Serê Kaniyê attended by members of civic institutions and the people of the city.

During the meeting, the member of Kongra Star Coordination in al-Hasaka Zaynab Shitka spoke about the injustice practiced against women through the male mentality that governed societies.

She added, "When we talk about women, we are talking about struggle and resistance to end the violence against them, the violence is not just physical violence but economic, political and social violence."

Zaynab noted that the Rojava revolution played an important role in the development of women in all, political, military and administrative fields.

Zaynab also spoke of free and shared life, she said, "Free life brings with it a shared and integrated social life."

At the end of her speech, Zaynab Shitka focused on the role of Kurdish, Arab and Syriac women in the Rojava revolution. She explained that women were able to struggle in all fields and played an important role in northern Syria.

The meeting ended with a debate on reducing violence against women.
