Discussing agricultural reality in Deir ez-Zor countryside

In order to support the agricultural sector, improve the level of production and provide assistance to the farmers in the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor, the General Directorate of Agriculture in Deir ez-Zor invited the agricultural speakers in the local councils in Deir ez-Zor countryside to consider and follow up everything related to agriculture and its needs as the speakers and councils are the mouth of the farmers and the link between concerned parties and the farmers.

The meeting was attended by the co-chairs of the Agriculture Committee in the Civil Council, Sherin Saud, Mohammed al-Aziz and the agricultural spokesmen on behalf of Abu Khashab, Jarwan, al-Jazrat , Milaj , al-Bo Shams , Bo Hamid , al-Kebar, al-Hermoshiya , Hammar al-Ali , al-Sawa, Hawayej bo Masa, Mohemeda , Sefira and al-Hissan Councils.

The meeting began by proposing the farmers' demands in each village separately for the different obstacles and problems according to each agricultural area.

One of the problems discussed was the problem of water and agricultural watercourses, where the participants called for the removal of the watercourses and the repair of the unemployed ones until irrigation water is delivered to the agricultural lands.

The agricultural spokesmen stressed the need to rehabilitate the agricultural roads and address the concerned service providers to repair the roads leading to the lands before the start of the rains season. The participants also called for the activation of the Agricultural Committees to ensure the smooth running of the operations and the issuance of agricultural licenses for the tractors.

Securing the basic requirements for agriculture was the most important matter discussed. The representatives of the Agricultural Councils appealed to the Agriculture Committee to continue ensuring the fuel oil, as well as the seeds of the same types that were distributed before a period, continue supporting at the same pace and supplying them with fertilizer.

In turn, the Agriculture Directorate recorded all the discussions and requests for the meetings documented by the Directorate General of Agriculture to hold discussions with the concerned authorities and work within possible means to improve the situation of farmers. The co-chairs asked the farmers to work within agricultural plans and follow the guidance of experts of the Agriculture Committee for the work to be systematic and scientific that remain with progress in this regard .
