SDF to resume "Battle to defeat terrorism"

The Media Center of SDF issued a public statement today, announcing the resumption of the "battle to defeat terrorism".

The text of the statement:

"IS organization exploited Turkish attacks on our border villages and our forces were obliged to stop the campaign until the threats on our northern border were removed. The terrorist organization carried out a series of counter-offensive operations, using booby-trapped vehicles, taking advantage of the military circumstances arising from the aforementioned Turkish attacks.

Due to the intensive contacts between the General Command of our forces and the leaders of the International Alliance, as well as the active diplomatic movement aimed at defusing the crisis on the border, the positive calls by the allies for restraint and the efforts to combat terrorism and pursue it, thus contributing to stability in the region. The General Command of SDF decided to resume their military operations against the IS organization and work to defeat it completely.

The offensive operations announced were halted in ground operations as air operations continued. The coalition aircraft targeted several terrorist positions this week, destroying a number of targets and killing many terrorists.

In addition, a special unit of our forces carried out a special operation with the support of the helicopters of the International Coalition, which led to the arrest of a senior leader of the terrorist organization in al-Raqqa. This indicates that the organization still has roots and sleeper cells even in the liberated areas, which emphasizes the need to continue this alliance and cooperation in the long term to secure factors of stability and prevent the emergence of terrorist organizations.

Our forces are committed to complete al-Jazeera Tempest campaign to pursue IS organization in the Middle Euphrates basin and to end the battle to defeat terrorism and to pursue its remnants and sleeping cells wherever they may be.

The General Command of SDF, while reaffirming its determination to pursue terrorism, similarly affirms its intention to protect the international borders of northern Syria and to secure the civil peace of all its components, calling for dialogue as a way to solve all problems and avoid the language of threat and escalation.
