Arvan Ortak: 1000 women still kidnapped by ISIS

"There are still about 1,000 women in the hands of ISIS, they are being enslaved and assaulted," the head of the Central Council of Yezidis in Germany, Arvan Ortak, stated in Helbronner Steme newspaper published on Saturday.

On the victory of the Yazidi Kurdish activist Nadia Murad in the 2018 Nobel Peace Prize, Ortak said "Nadia deserves more than this award. Over the past four years, she has been traveling tirelessly to inform people about the fate of the Yazidis and other victims of ISIS."

On 3 August 2014, IS mercenaries launched an attack on Şengal district in southern Kurdistan and committed massacres against the Yezidi Kurds and abducted thousands of children and women. Syrian Democratic Forces and the People's and Women's Protection Units have been able to save hundreds of women and children from ISIS, while many are still being kidnapped by ISIS.
It is noteworthy that the Yazidi activist Nadia Murad won the Nobel Peace Prize of 2018, the Nobel Committee said on Friday that Nadia Murad winning it is aimed at calling for not using rape of women as a weapon in the war, and to protect women during the conflict periods.
