Lina Berekat: Syrian women are solution node to Syrian crisis

The Syrian Women Council of Manbij branch held a seminar about the reality of women's life in the Legislative Council’s meetings room on Sunday.

The general coordinator and spokeswoman for the Syrian Women Council Lina Berekat and dozens of women that work in the councils and committees of the Civil Democratic Administration in Manbij and its countryside attended the symposium.

The symposium began with holding a minute of silence, and then Lina Berekat gave a speech in which she talked about the role of women.

Lina Berekat pointed out that it is the right of women to participate in the crucial decisions to take their opinion into account and our council was formed to consolidate these rights.

Lina continued, “It is the right and even necessary for women to participate in the negotiations and conferences that are held in order to set a solution to the Syrian crisis. The Syrian women are the node of the solution to the Syrian crisis.”

Then, the member of the Syrian Women Council Office in Manbaj Huthama Mohammed Saeed gave a speech in which she touched upon the ancient history of woman till modern history, referring to the persecution they experienced.

Huthama also shed the light on the previous constitutions in Syria and the perspective of which the women were seen. She continued, “Women did not have a role, and they did not have the right to be nominated.”

The seminar concluded with discussions that emphasized that women will be the real actors in developing the society and solving its problems.
