With the promotion of the concept of social justice in society and the consolidation of the role and importance of reconciliation committees emanating from society itself, the judiciary or decision-making of disputes has not been confined to courts.

Social reconciliation committees are particularly important for women who are subjected to injustice from society or laws that are biased towards male society.

Women's Reconciliation's Committees are the women's destination for their rights

For decades, women have suffered from injustice in terms of their civil rights because the laws in the courts have not been fair to women. They have always sided with the masculine mentality, especially in matters of personal status such as marriage, inheritance, divorce, maintenance support, lineage and other issues. The prevailing pattern of social relations and the generality of customs and traditions did not often allow women to resort to the courts to claim their rights.

During the Revolution of Rojava and North Syria, women's organizations, in particular the Star Union(Kongra Star), has undertaken to support women to claim their rights through the preparation of a number of women's judicial laws, as well as through the establishment of women's houses in most cities and regions.

The Reconciliation Committees of the women's house are considered as social judicial councils that do not issue penal sentences but rather resolve disputes by means of reconciliation and compromise, which makes them an important substitute of the courts.

Hawar news agency visited the Women's House in Çil Agha district of Qamişhlo canton to know about the work of the Reconciliation Committee affiliated to the house.

The Reconciliation Committee has received 60 issues or controversial issues related to women, including marital disputes, family disputes, polygamy, marriage of minors, custody and maintenance, financial disputes, harassment, defamation and other issues.

Huda Ali the administrator of the Reconciliation Committee said that the members of the Committee are working firstly on the studying of the merits of the case and listen to all parties, and then decide on the case. Al-Ali stressed that the Committee does not issue penal sentences but rather works to resolve the issue by reconciliation and compromise according to social norms and based on the laws of women ratified on by the Legislative Council in the autonomous administration. Cases of criminal nature will be referred to the prosecution and the justice bureau, provided that the proceedings are supervised by the Women's House.

Marriage of minors is one of the main causes of divorce

According to the cases received by the Women's House in Çil Agha, divorce cases and cases of discrimination between the spouses have increased. Huda Al-Ali confirmed that one of the main reasons for the increase in divorces is the marriage of minors. Despite laws prohibiting the marriage of minors under the age of 18, some families have violated the law.

Huda al-Ali referred to some families to falsify the birth of their daughters in the ID card or family book to avoid the law of marriage of minors, but the result was negative, after the marriage ended in a short period of divorce.

She said "In accordance with the laws in force, we maintain the confidentiality of issues and discussions, and we take the necessary measures against both women and men to disclose the cases received to the Women's House. "
