Hundreds of civilians flee Idlib for fear of an imminent military operation

Some sources among them the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights’ reported that hundreds of Syrian civilians are fleeing Idlib governorate, while others are preparing for an impeding attack that may be launched by the regime forces.

The sources mentioned that the escapees are leaving the villages located south-east of Idlib, where the attack is expected to be launched.

The regime and its allies are mobilizing their forces around Idlib amid a sporadic artillery bombardment that targeted the armed gangs on the outskirts of Idlib in the past few days, while the Russian and Syrian warplanes launched raids on the south-east area of the governorate on Thursday according to what the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights mentioned.

The director of the Observatory Rami Abdel Rahman said, “About 180 families, or about 1000 people have fled their homes since Wednesday night, heading towards the further east within the areas controlled by opposition militants.

The director added that most of the escapees are villagers from the areas near the territories controlled by the regime forces and more vulnerable to the early stage of any attack.

The presidents of Russia and Iran will hold a summit in Tehran on Friday that would be attended by the Turkish president, in which what will happen in Idlib will be decided.
