Asia Abdullah: Organized women managed to create radical changes in revolution

The third conference of TEV-DEM was held on Monday at Aram Tikran Center in Rumailan town to talk about the role of women and their achievements in the Movement. ANHA met with the former co-chair of TEV-DEM's Executive Body Asia Abdullah.

Asia Abdullah congratulated the Kurdish people in Kurdistan and the peoples of North Syria, especially the women who have become pioneers in all fields on holding TEV-DEM's 3rd conference.

Asia said, "Women have played an effective role in TEV-DEM since its establishment until this moment. TEV-DEM's main objective is to organize the people and build a moral and political society based on justice and equality and to change the masculine mentality starting from the family and then within the society that made women slaves and imposed rules on them away from their will.

Asia noted that TEV-DEM has strengthened the struggle of women to change this mentality imposed by the authoritarian mentality in terms of inequality and violence practiced against them, pointing out that women with their own organization and free will have achieved so.

Asia has indicated that thanks to the determination and struggle of women, they have been able to prove their existence, and have made radical changes within the Movement and the society. Moreover, at the beginning of Rojava Revolution, they were vanguard to participate in the formation of communes and popular councils.

As for women's participation in TEV-DEM's 3rd conference, Asia Abdullah confirmed that the percentage of women’s participation in the conference was a proof that women reached a level that suit their status in the society and this came after many years of conflict within the male society.

It is worth mentioning that the conference was concluded with the formation of an administrative council for the Movement, and the ratio of women within it is 32 out of 64 members.
