"Diplomatic solution in Idlib is weak, civilians are in danger"

The statements of the administrator of the Future Syria Party’s office Mowafak al-Ahmad came during a meeting held by ANHA agency, and he pointed out that several accelerated scenarios appeared in Idlib, suggesting that the military solution is closer than the diplomatic solution because the diplomatic situation has become weak due to the international contradictions, and the recent rapprochements between Russia and Turkey after the last meeting of Astana.

Mowafak al-Ahmad said that Russia is trying to end the situation in Idlib and has decided to launch a military campaign against it after the airport of Hamimim was attacked by aircrafts. He pointed out that there are old and new alliances and they will be translated on the ground in Idlib. The Russian and Syrian alliance still exists, and he said, "There may be a Russian-Turkish alliance or understanding about Idlib campaign."

Mowafak said that the Syrian regime intensified its military operations in the recent days on Idlib and began to bombard the centers of the mercenaries in the areas of Idlib and Lattakia countryside. He said, "This bombing suggested to a major military operation in Idlib."

On the Turkish practices and policies in Idlib, Mowafak al-Ahmad explained that Turkey is essentially strengthening its presence on the contradictions that it created in Syria. Turkey has played the biggest negative role in Syria, and Turkey's sole objective is to occupy the Syrian territory. He said, "This was evident after the agreement that Turkey held with Russia during the struggle of the regime and the armed factions on Aleppo as Turkey sold these factions and handed over Aleppo to the regime and in return it was allowed by Russia to enter al-Bab through filthy swaps, and that happened in al-Gouta as it was granted to the regime in return for the occupation of Turkey to Afrin.

"The people of Idlib are now facing a great predicament, and Turkey is ready to waste their blood for its gains and interests," he said.

Mowafak al-Ahmad noted that more than quarter of a million civilians and about 700,000 refugees are existed in Idlib according to the humanitarian organizations’ reports and their life is in danger in case a military campaign would be launched on Idlib. Mowafak said, "We, as a Syrian people, want to avoid bloodshed and end the battle of Idlib away from repeating what happened in al-Gouta, Aleppo and elsewhere, and to work to protect the life of civilians as soon as possible because they are threatened with killing."
