Yazidi village, victim of Turkish violations

The village of Tal Khatun has been inhabited for more than a century by the Yazidi people. The village is located 10 km north-east of Tirbê Spiyê district and it is away about 1 km from the border between Rojava and Bakur (North Kurdistan) .It was inhabited by about 100 families in 1990. Most of the people in the village used to depend on ranching and agriculture, but with the continuation of the harassment of the Turkish state, many people emigrated because of the lack of resources to live as a result of the Turkish state's prevention of the pastoralists to approach to the borders in addition to preventing the farmers from plowing their agricultural lands, some of them headed towards Tirbê Spiyê district and the adjacent cities and some have left the country.

Only 11 families remained in Tal Khatun village with painful stories with the Turkish state because of the proximity of the village to the artificial border between Rojava and Bakur Kurdistan. For years, the villagers have been harassed by the Turkish occupation army, especially in the recent years.

Five people from the village have been killed so far as a result of the attacks launched by the Turkish occupation army against the peoples of the area during the past years as three people were killed by mines planted by the Turkish occupation along the border and they are Khair ed-Din Haji Sheikhmous, Suleiman Makhso and Shukri Kobo, two other persons were killed by the bullets of the Turkish occupation army and they are Melo Nawroz and Bero Ibrahim in addition to the injury of Hussein Aho twice while he was grazing his cattle.

They divided the families

Suleiman Jolie, one of the elders of Tal Khatun village said that the Turkish state was and continues to create harassment for the people of the village and divided the families when it set the border between Rojava and Bakur Kurdistan as he and his brother have been stayed in Rojava but his other two brothers have been remained in Bakur Kurdistan.

Suleiman Jolie noted that Turkey has prevented them from approaching their cultivated lands. In the recent times, harassment has increased and they are shooting bullets daily on the village without any reason as the last was two days ago when they launched fire on the village and prevented herders from grazing their livestock.

Suleiman Jolie explained that the villages of Jareh, Tal Khatun, Kardim, Kel Hasnak, Mullah Abbas and Dirna Qlanka are being subjected to the violations of the Turkish occupation army on a daily basis.
