August 15th Leap restored soul to Kurdish people

The statements of TEV-DEM's administrator came during an extensive meeting on the achievements of the August 15th Leap led by the Kurdistan Freedom Movement in Bakur Kurdistan (North Kurdistan) in 1984 which was held on Saturday at Zana Hall in Qamishlo city of al-Jazeera region.

The meeting was attended by hundreds of Qamishlo and its villages’ residents; Kurds, Arabs, Syriacs and the administrators and members of service institutions, civil society and members of TEV-DEM.

The administrative Rêzan Çiyayî pointed out during the meeting that the oppressed and the occupiers of Kurdistan denied the existence of the Kurdish people and the rest of the peoples of the area such as the Syrians, Armenians and Assyrians, and they did not recognize the legitimate rights of the Kurdish people and other peoples, deprived the Kurds of their identity and culture and considered them as foreigners on their historic land.

Rêzan Çiyayî explained that the leader of the Kurdish people Abdullah Ocalan and his comrades in the revolutionary struggle and the armed struggle and through the August 15th Leap challenged all the conditions that the Kurdish people were passing through and declared their struggle against injustice, tyranny and the crimes committed against them and which aimed to end their existence and annihilate them completely.

Çiyayî said that the August 15th Leap announced to the whole world that the Kurds live on their land and have rights, and that the colonial countries headed by Turkey are trying to exterminate them. The Kurdish people have renewed their struggle for their freedom and dignity and the August 15th Leap was a return of the soul to the body of the Kurdish people.

Çiyayî mentioned the speech of the struggler Masûm Kurkmaz saying, "If the August 15th campaign triumphs, it will be a victory for the Kurdish people against the Turkish fascism, and if it fails, it will be the beginning of the end for the Kurdish people."

Çiyayî added that the resistance and insistence made by the struggler Masûm Kurkmaz and his comrades in Kurdistan Mountains against the Turkish occupation were crowned with victory, and the thought of the Kurdistan Freedom Movement has spread throughout Kurdistan and the rest of the world.

Furthermore the meeting ended with chanting the slogans which salute the Kurdish leader Abdullah Ocalan.
