Dumb, deaf, poor family awaiting savior from distress

Ain Issa district related to Girê Spî canton is one of the regions that Daesh occupied for four successive years, in the meantime, not only many a dream was destroyed, but also hundreds of lives were turned into hell where darkness prevailed.

Al-Qisis family is one of the families that suffered a great deal after their lives were completely devastated, one of the distresses that befell them was killing the daughters’ mother for supplying the regime’s elements of Brigade 93 with food.

The second was their elder sister who suffered a mine blast put by the mercenaries in her house, leading to her divorce, thus she returned to her parents’ house, as for the rest siblings, they are helplessly deaf and dumb.

No day would ever pass without recalling the bitter days they experienced, remembering the sweet days when Daesh had not invaded their district yet.   

Al-Qisis family consists of four girls; Alaqa at 29, Turkey at 25, Watfa at 48, Rabi’a 60, and a young man Farhan at 26, Fatima his wife.

Unfortunately, some members of al-Qisis family suffer deafness and dumbness since birth while others fell victim to Daesh mercenaries and became deaf, and forced to continue their lives without uttering a word.

Their mother the first victim

During Daesh domination on the district, al-Qisis family led a difficult life, IS mercenaries have arrested their mother Amina under charges of supplying the regime’s elements with food and baking bread for them, Amina was imprisoned for a whole month, then they kidnapped her son Farhan, assuring her that they have hung him and threw him away because she would not admit providing the regime’s elements with food.

Sometime later, they killed the mother with some elements in the brigade’s and was buried in one of the mass graves.

Amina’s daughters demanding their mother’s corpse, they were threatened by murder, so they had to remain silent.

Daesh devastated the elder daughter’s life too

The eldest daughter in al-Qisis family Rabi’a’s life was turned into unbearable hell by Daesh gangs, as they blasted a mine in her house, she lost her left hand, fear-stricken, she turned deaf and dumb like her other sisters, regardless of her serious bruises and wounds.

Rabi’a was married to one of Om al-Saharij’s residents which lies west of Ain Issa named Ibrahim al-Hasan, but after her injury, she could no longer work or serve her husband, so he gave her up, and divorced her claiming he does not need her anymore.

She moved then to her family’s, thus all the family became deaf and dumb, except for their sister-in-law that means life to them, while this family survives on the assistance some organizations and people provide to them in the district.

“Our life is unbearably miserable”

Fatima the sister-in-law told Hawar news agency that their condition is utterly miserable since none of the family’s members is able to work to assure an income for the family, so they are managing on some help that Ain Issa people and organizations provide.

Fatima described the brutal and inhuman practices that women were subjected to during IS-domination as “horrible nightmare.”

 “We are poor, but we have something more precious now”

Fatima noted that despite their utter poverty, and bitter conditions, they have obtained their freedom after getting rid of Daesh, so they can now go wherever they want without wearing black, or fearing anyone as they have today courage and power.  

Fatima demanded the concerned parties to support them due to their poor financial conditions amid lack of any supporter to them.

This family’s rejoice at ridding of Daesh is quite justifiable, as they are nourishing hopes that someone will be standing by them in their distress, but a question poses itself: Would anyone perceive this family’s desperate, poverty-stricken situation that has paralyzed every aspect of their lives.
