The first victory declared by Şengal in the decree is to unite and circumvent the forces of Rojava that saved them from annihilation to announce on the next day of the decree the formation of Şengal Resistance Units mobilizing with the people of Rojava and its military units and Guerilla Forces after statements issued by a member of the Central Command of the Kurdistan Society Organization Murad Qaraylan who sent his forces to Şangal to save the people from a historic genocide.

Historical steps accelerated from the midst of Resistance in the mountain

Şengal mountain where tens of thousands of the fled were protected by from IS' hell that had no support and protection of only 12 of PKK fighters and members of Freedom and Democracy Movement who had been in the city for some time with legendary resistance and historic event managed to control and close the main two gates of the mountain (Bab Karsi and Bab al-Madina), in addition to delaying the advance of IS mercenaries by blowing up several vehicles of them and preventing them from reaching the mountain.

In the meantime, the People and Women's Protection Units opened a safe passage between the mountain and the lands of Rojava from the border town of Jaza, and rescued tens of thousands of Yazidis to reach the mountain.

The campaign of liberation from Jaza towards the mountain with the participation of Şengal Resistance Units

Everyone was waiting for zero hour, especially the volunteers in Şengal Resistance Units. The units announced at the beginning of December 2014 a combing and liberating campaign to break the siege on the mountain and provide support to those who remained in it. With historic resistance and legendary battles in Sennona, Khanh Soor and the wilderness that separates between the borders of Rojava and the mount, the units reached the mountain and ensured the protection of the entire road to begin, with the historic steps of the people, establishing themselves in the mountain and revenge on the decree.

Developing social organization as a primary goal of saving themselves

The choice of thousands of people to stay in the mountain and resist required the organization to protect and save the community from a decree and white eradication such as loss and surrender or migration and dispersion, especially since the main reason for the massacre is to rely on others in protection and organization, so the experience of Rojava in the organization has spread, and they wanted to benefit like others. The people gathered on 14-1-2015 and discussed the social, security and service situation of the inhabitants of the mountain resulting in the declaration of the Constituent Assembly for Şengal Yazidis.

Women build themselves and carry arms for the first time to retaliate for the kidnaped

The most historic step in the course of the resistance in Şengal Mount which has brought about essential changes in the Yazidi community is that the Yazidi women who suffered from unjust male domination within their closed society to some degree received from the women of Rojava, especially the Women Protection Units who participated in the operation of opening the corridor and saving them.

In February 2015, a group of Yazidi young women announced the formation of the Women's Protection Units in Şengal and began to participate in the battles against IS north and south of the mountain.

In addition to that, they organized themselves within a special council concerned with their social, psychological, service and rehabilitation issues to lead to the formation of the Women Freedom Movement in Yazidikhan in September 25, 2016 with the aim of strengthening and unifying women's will and rehabilitating them to save their society and play their role in the administration.

Education and services are the first steps of the councils despite the siege imposed on them

The hardships of life in the mountain did not stop at the risk of IS attacks against them, rather, the aspects of education, services and health were more difficult and hard for the council under the strict siege imposed on them by all sides, while the latter sought to overcome them with determination and self-potential.

The council began digging wells for drinking water and watering to convert most of the mountain areas into agricultural lands to meet the needs of the people.

The Kurdish Language and Training Foundation in Rojava sent educational cadres at the request of Şengal Council to open schools along the mountain to help their children psychologically and intellectually and protect them from loss, as well as the formation of the People Municipality and its service and health institutions with the support of the Autonomous Administration in Rojava at that time.

Now, all the steps have become a solid base to form in the mountain and the city dozens of schools and teachers' training institutes, as well as 3 basic hospitals full of medical staff and the necessary supplies in the service of the citizens either in the mountain or in the city and its districts and a cultural center in the top of the mountain in addition to strengthening the self-economy of the people by opening of the corridors and commercial routes between them and Rojava, the Region and Al Mosul after liberation.

Expanding the management project in Şengal after the readiness of the social base

After the series of victories at the social, organizational, protection and service levels, the people began political steps to expand further and affect their surroundings both inside and outside. Therefore, the Yazidi Freedom and Democracy Movement declared in its 6th conference held in June 24, 2016 to expand its activities and transform itself into a political party on behalf of the Yazidi Freedom and Democracy Party (PADÊ) that represents the Yazidi people in the political parties, parliamentary elections and others as an official party within Iraq.

In an important step, with regard to the situation of the affected minorities in Iraq and the optimal solution to their outstanding issues, Şengal Autonomous Administration presented in mid-August of 2017 a project entitled "Yazidikhan Autonomous Administration" with 23 items focusing on forming a popular council under an international observation and the Kurdish and Iraqi forces concerned with them including all Yazidi and non-Yazidi communities living in the geography of Şengal, and that their military units and Yazidikhan Asayiş would be essential forces protecting them.

In addition to providing a solution to ensure the rights of the Shiites, Syriacs and Assyrians in Tal Afar and the Nineveh plain that are adjacent to Şengal. The other items focused on organizational, service and diplomatic matters related to the central government and the Kurdistan Region on the recognition of the popular will of Şengal to represent and manage themselves according to the constitutional articles of the federal system in Iraq.

Şengal management: We seek to form the largest agreement among Şengal components, and the governmental bodies cling to the mentality of power

In the context of the organizational and political development in Şengal, Riham Hejo, the administrator in Şengal Autonomous Administration said in response to the agency's questions in this regard, "The Yazidi community has overcome a very difficult situation during the 4 years of resistance, liberation and organizational work. Although we have developed our self-management with the project of a solution to guarantee our rights and the rights of other minorities and formed our councils in each village, district and neighborhood in the city, we seek to reach every gathering and organization in the area to strengthen the agreement and stand in solidarity with each other to achieve a free and decent life together.”

As for the relations between Baghdad and the administration of Şengal, Hajo explained that communication is very weak despite that the council moves according to the Iraqi constitution, and that their units and their council have decreased much burden on the government in matters of services and protection. We interpret these approaches as being close to the concept and mentality of authority and to curb the will of their people, and we want to get closer for the sake of the solution.
