Constructive discussions during 1st conference of Kongra Star in Qamishlo

QAMISHLO

This morning, the first conference of Kongra Star launched in Qamishlo canton, under the slogan "In The Spirit of Resistance of The Age, We Make The Revolution of Women a Social Revolution", the conference took place at Mohammed Sheikho Center for Culture and Art in Qamishlo city.

After holding a moment of silence, a member of Kongra Star coordination Delal Qamishlo delivered a speech, then a divan of 5 female members to run the works of the Kongra who are Hanifa Mohammed, Laila Iskan, Delal Qamishlo, Amal Abbas and Nesrin Ali.

The report of the conference's activities during the past two years was read in Arabic and Kurdish and was discussed by the attendees.

The discussions indicated that women had made great steps during these two years and proved themselves in all political and military fields. The Women's Protection Units had an effective role in proving the existence of women through their leadership of all liberation campaigns in Rojava and northern Syria.

During the discussions, the women criticized Kongra Star for not organizing women in newly liberated areas. The discussions stressed that Kongra Star must reach all women in the whole of north Syria particularly and Syria in general.

With regard to Arab women, discussions confirmed that Kongra star gave them the opportunity to work outside the home and helped change the man's authoritarian mentality towards women.

The first conference of Kongra Star in Qamishlo canton will continue with the discussions. At the end of the conference, a coordinator to the canton is to be elected.

It is noteworthy that the conferences are being held as part of Kongra Star preparations for its second general conference which is scheduled to be held in the coming period.
