Processing of "fish farms" project in al-Tabqa

The plan that was supposed to be implemented in the "fish farms" project was changed as the project was to be a collection of ponds or cages containing a quantity of fingerlings in quantities ranging from 2 tons to 5 tons each.

The current plan calls for the conversion of old cages to fingerlings with a weight of 50 g and 100 g and produced by maternal fish in 3 large hatching ponds.

The foundation operations are initially built in several stages, the first of which is construction, and the second is the drilling, the last being the construction and processing of the basins.

Fish basins are an important project that has the specificity of building an economy of self-sufficiency through the provision of local white meat, and relying on available resources such as the presence of water bodies behind the dams which are a priority that leads to the service of society.

The rehabilitation of the fish pond project aims to find other sources of white meat in the area and North Syria and to employ the people as much as possible

The project is one of the new and most advanced projects in the area, consisting of two groups, each consisting of 10 fish ponds for up to six months, and then selling their products on the market.

The project is mainly based on the development and fattening of fingerlings (small breeds) which are available in private farms. Coordination will be done with the fishermen in the area to provide the mothers with the eggs, and transfer it to the lake into the fish ponds to complete the production process  

A number of initial steps have been taken, including the securing of fishing nets to be installed on cages, and the return of cages to their proper position, which may take a relatively long time.

Ahmed Sulaiman, the co-chair of the Economic Committee for the Democratic Civil Administration, said: "This process is a bit difficult because of the need to provide special biological conditions that are currently being secured. We are working on the right bases to ensure healthy food for fish away from pollution sources and harmful chemicals such as hormones. "

Concerned about the importance of the presence and development of fisheries, the Economic Committee issued a circular that requires the prevention of overfishing by methods contrary to environmental balance such as the use of electric currents and toxic substances.
