Free Media Union meet for 1st  time with media professionals in Manbij

The meeting which was held today at the meetings hall of the Legislative Council, was head by the co-chair of the Free Media Union, Siban Jan, and the member of the Union Council, Shilan Mohamed. In the presence of the majority of media activists in Manbij city.

During the meeting, the co-chair of the Free Media Union, Siban Jan, delivered a speech in which he spoke about the reasons for the formation of the Free Media Union, and said ,"at the beginning of the Syrian events, we held our first conference in the presence of the media professionals from the majority of the Syrian provinces, with the aim of establishing of Free Media Union and filling the media vacuum. With the beginning of Rojava's Revolution, the institutions were opened and the number of journalists increased. It was necessary to form the Free Media Union as an institution that adopts the protection of journalists and defends freedom of expression within the law in the form guaranteed by the social contract document of the administrations of northern Syria. "

During the meeting, the media professionals asked the questions which answered by the co-chair of Free Media Union and the attendees and discussed them.

The questions focused on journalism in general terms and conditions of joining the union, and the relationship between social institutions and media institutions.

Several meetings are scheduled at different times to explain the Union's rules of procedure for the purpose of defining it.

The Union held its fourth conference recently in Qamishlo city which resulted in several important decisions in the development and expansion of the work of the Union, one of the decisions to open branches of the Union in the newly liberated areas in northern Syria, including Manbij,
