Water problem in Qamishlo, causes and solutions

One of the main problems facing Qamishlo city's peoople is the problem of scarcity and lack of drinking water, especially in some neighborhoods such as Judy neighborhood ( Qanat Swês ),Hilko and Cirnikê. which raised resentfull of the people.

Qamishlo city depends on three main stations to supply drinking water, Sefan station in Deirk, al-Halaylia and al-Hawajah's stations. In addition to 12 artesian wells east of Qamishlo city and other wells in vicinity of  Çeqçeq River. With all these stations available, the question is why the drinking water is cut off. Before answering the question, we will listen to the views of the people on the subject.

'Due to power outages we can not get water'

Dilgeş Khalil, a resident of Cirnikê  neighborhood said that electricity cuts are the main cause of water cuts in the neighborhood, where the neighborhood supplies water from the well with pumps, but electricity only reaches the neighborhood for an hour or two a day, and this time is insufficient to supply water. Ampere electricity is not enough to drain water.

Amina Ramadan, a resident of Qanat Swês neighborhood 's people, said the water was cut off from the neighborhood for 3 or 4 days sometimes. "When the water comes, the electricity is cut off and we can not get water."

Water has been cut for 15 days

Khader Abbas, from Halco neigborhood said that the neighborhood had not been supplied with water for 15 days. "Although I am 70 years old, I have had to move the water through the piedons from neighboring neighborhoods for a distance of 500 meters."
