Afrin people open popular market in Tel- Qarah

Al-Shahba canton has witnessed large numbers of the refugees from Afrin canton who have flocked to al-Shahba canton after Turkish aggression and urgent needs for the markets that meet residents' needs so Afrin people opened a popular market in Tel-Qarah village by autonomous initiative after taking permission of municipality.

All food, clothing, detergents and basic needs of the people are sold on small stalls or placed on the ground.

The market opens every Saturday on every week, and the sellers import goods from Ahrars and Kafr Naya districts belonging to al-Shahba canton and other areas through merchants.

"Bazars“ popular markets witness an intensive turnout of the people due to cheap prices comparing with shops and large markets due to competitive advantage offered by traders in these Bazars.

Ahmed Mohammed said, "By our own initiative, we opened this market to meet the needs of the residents living in the village, and not to have to leave the village to buy supplies."

During the seven weekdays, 21 popular markets were held in the center of Afrin and its districts .The popular market in the center of the canton was the largest, with most of the villagers coming from Afrin and neighboring areas such as "the people of the villages of Azaz, Darat Izza, Atma, Nabal and Zahra."

Bazar is a local commercial market dating back to the 1930s. The first bazaar was established in the center of Afrin canton in 1927, where the various types of agricultural and animal products, as well as food, are sold, bought and traded.

Due to the Turkish aggression and its mercenaries against Afrin canton Afrin canton's people were forced to displace from their homes to avoid massacres, not to mention to much destruction of the infrastructure of the canton.
