Drinking water problem discussed in Tel Hamis

Tel Hamis district is experiencing a severe shortage of drinking water in its villages as a result of the destruction of the infrastructure, drinking water and public facilities during the period of IS mercenaries’ control, as well as the nature of the soil that stores underground water that tastes salt.

On this topic, the Local Administration and Municipalities Body in al-Jazeera canton held a public meeting for Tel Hamis people and its villages, and it was attended by hundreds of people and the members of the councils and the civil institutions in order to find suitable solutions for the water problem.

The administrator in Water Committee in al-Jazeera canton Kawa Abdo said, "Tel Hamis district that is one of the most harmful areas in Qamişlo canton is in need of water, and the destruction of the infrastructure and drinking water networks by IS mercenaries has negatively affected the people in terms of insuring drinking water."

Abdo pointed out that they will work to rehabilitate drinking water stations again in the district in coordination with one of the humanitarian organizations. Abdu added, "The organization will implement this project within a period of 15 days."

Abdo said that they have set a plan to overcome the problem of water and its delivery to the people by assigning 23 water tanks to distribute water to the villages that do not have water in the district.

Furthermore, the discussion and inquiries were opened to the audience. All the discussions focused on developing plans and projects to solve the service problems that the district suffers from.
