Nidal Khalil ... Biography of a leader left on path of resistance

On January 7, 2014,  Rojava lost another son, who lost a fighter, a vanguard and a leader who had a fingerprint at every crucial stage of the region's revolution.

He is Nidal Khalil or, as he is known as Welat Hasakah (nom de guerre in the ranks of the PeopleProtection Units YPG), Ibn al-Hasakah and leader of the People Protection Units(YPG).

In al-Hasakah city in 1980, Nidal's eye opened to life as a member of a family of seven, but he had a special place where he was the youngest among all the brothers, and this status made him a pampered and loved one.

However, his good qualities and distinctive style, which have always attracted the attention of the neighbors, were a factor in making him a life in a special style that he lived within his family.

Nerva his mother said "He was always spoiled by everyone. He always accompanied me. He left all his brothers to study and become a teacher of taekwondo and boxing."

He studied of the elementary stage with his brothers. He completed his studies until the secondary stage in which he graduated with high marks in the scientific section, but the poor material conditions of his family prevented him from studying the sports institute in al-Hasakah without seeking higher scientific fields.

After completing his studies, Nidal graduated from the field of sports and taught students in his field of specialization for four years in Tel-Brak and al-Shadadi in al-Hasakah city .

Before Roajava revolution began several years ago, Nidal married his cousin's daughter after completing compulsory service within the Syrian army, and provided her with two children.

A new destiny

With the start of the Syrian events and the disturbance of the general situation in the country, Nidal worked with a group of young people to protect the neighborhood. They were aware that the situation would not remain the same and would develop later. so they collected money among themselves and bought weapons they used for protection. All these events.

At the formation of People Protection Units (YPG), Nidal and his group of young comrades built a base for this organization, so they organized themselves into units immediately and began to protect neighborhoods and build checkpoints to monitor traffic and prevent the entry of outsiders into their areas.

Sama Rojava a student of the martyr Nidal and his comrades said "I was in our junior high school. Our sports coach at school taught us how to play boxing. He encouraged me to participate in the taekwondo teams, but my family prevented me from following the habits of the community at that time."

And added "Two years later, the revolution began and we met at one of the points that the comrades prepared for the guard, where he discussed me in order to join the revolution and to play my role as a woman. After a while I decided to join and became a fighter in the Women Protection Units (YPJ)."

Strong in the face of challenges

In the life of every human being there are stages in which one experiences great challenges. The revolution is also no different. There are greater challenges. Therefore, Nidal, who is one of the leaders in  People Protection Units (YPG) defending the revolution on a daily basis, faces different challenges.

His friend, Zain Kobani , says that she met him in 2012 in al-Musheira neighborhood at al-Hasakah city , when he was trying to solve a problem that broke out between a family of martyrs and a family of the Arab component.

Zain points out that some of those who sought to create a national sedition wanted to turn that problem into instigate and strife between the Arab and Kurdish components, but they and Nidal with them intervened and resolved the problem without is getting worse .

His wife Berivan Khalaf said " He has been fighting for three months without visiting the family once, I called him once and said that your children are asking for your vision"He said that my comrades today need me and in a war I will not be able to return."

The last battle

During the years of his struggle in Rojava revolution, Nidal participated in liberating many areas of the Ba'athist regime and mercenaries ofJabhit al-Nusra . He was always avant-garde in every battle or campaign waged by the units against those who threaten the security of his country.

His last battle was at Tel- Barak, where his comrades fell in siege of gangs Jabhit al- Nasra. At that time, Nidal was on a visit to the house, one of his comrades called him and demanded his presence on the battlefield.

She says she was very scared when her husband 's comrades called , and added "Nidal  requested his wear  military and his weapon. He ran out. I ran behind him. I say Nidal do not go, you do not have young children. I'm afraid you'll get hurt. But he answered me in a hurry. My comardes in danger let me leave them and went at that moment and no longer.

when Nidal arrived quickly and led the battle for three days until they liberated the village from the mercenaries of Jabhit al-Nusra that are still present in their comrades's memories .

After the liberation of the village, Nidal begins with a group of his comrades by combing the village and being in the vanguard. When he entered a house, one of the mercenaries who was hiding in the house shot him and seriously wounded him, and he was taken to a hospital in al-Hasakah city.

Nidal had been remained  for six hours underwent surgery. After opening his eyes two hours after the operation,  Nidal  asked his comrade Jasour welat about his weapon. He said that they should go to help his comrades because they were in danger, but Jasour promised to liberate the village and the safety of everyone.

His wife, Berivan , arrived at the hospital after hearing about his injury. When she entered the room, her husband saw her and called her to approach. "Look at my surgeon. I promise you that I will stand up and Iwill revenge from mercenaries Jabhit al-Nusra and lead a decent life."

Despite all the attempts, Nidal Khalil was martyred despite being transferred to the hospital, leaving behind lessons and words of sacrifice and redemption for the homeland.

After his martyrdom his wife was born a boy and his name was the name of his father to stay in our memories .Nidal ...
