Supplying half al-Karama cultivated area with water

The people's municipality in al-Karama area, which is considered one of the areas that depends on agriculture and which is located on the banks of the Euphrates River in al-Raqqa city, works afoot to supply the cultivated area by activating the irrigation stations in the area.

In this context, the municipality re-operated the irrigation station in the center of al- Karama area after repairing the equipment and machineries.

According to officials in the municipality, the station supplies 20 thousand dunums of the cultivated area, in other words; about half of the cultivated space in the area.

The administrator in the municipality's technical office and who is charged with equipping the irrigation plant Faisal al-Beiram said, "First, we connected the electricity (the service line) that is linked from Raqqa city to supply irrigation stations and drinking water stations. In the second stage, we repaired some of the engines because they have been damaged and stolen by IS mercenaries."

According to al-Beiram, they work on activating the irrigation station at al-Hemerat town as if this plant also is operated, the entire cultivated area that is about 40 thousand dunums approximately will be supplied according to unofficial statistics.

Al-Beiram, appealed to the Agriculture Committee related to al-Raqqa Civil Council to support the station more to be maintained continually.
