Kobani’s floods: 30 houses destroyed, 90% damaged, 500 million S.P losses

About 30 houses in Kobani city were exposed to much destruction where estimated damages are about 90%, and loss estimated resulting from the flood at about 500 million S.P.

Kobani witnessed heavy rain on Saturday that lasted for several hours, causing heavy damage to civilians’ homes, properties due to the torrents that swept away the territory of the canton, after the high level of water to a height of one and a half meters.

Municipal observers, who have been working since Sunday morning, began to estimate the damage caused and inspect the city and countryside.

Hawar news agency (ANHA) interviewed with the Co-chair of the People's Municipality in Kobani city Faries Atti that the losses amounted to 500 million S.P. by the floods that hit the streets of the city on Saturday.

Atti pointed said the largest part of the damage was to the western Botan neighborhood near Mashtanour hill as the number of houses destroyed was 30 in the same neighborhood, in addition to causing damage to 90% of the neighborhood's houses.

According to the Co –chair of the municipality, other torrents in Shera district located east of Kobani city and formed pools of water inside the houses.

On the other hand, the Kurdish Red Crescent teams rushed to provide medical assistance to those affected by the torrents where the aid included first aid.

Rubble clearance continues in the western Botan neighborhood and property evictions are being carried out by local residents and workers.
