Suicide attack on General Electoral Commission's headquarter in Tripoli

The headquarters of General Commission for the Libyan elections in Tripoli city has been attacked by a suicide attack, killing at least three people.

"218" the Libyan television announced on behalf of the general director of the Commission Said al-Kasabi that "three had been killed at least in the terrorist attack on the headquarters of the Commission," explaining that "two suicide bombers had blew themselves up with an explosive belt inside the walls of UNHCR headquarters."

"Large parts of UNHCR headquarters were burned," he said. "Special Deterrence Force intervened and ended the attack."

Reuters quoted from spokesman Khaled Ammar, who fled with other staff at the time of the attack that "the attackers entered the headquarters and set fire to it."

Libya is divided between the Libyan parliament, backed by the national army led by Khalifa Hafter, and the national reconciliation government, which failed to gain the confidence of parliament.
