Amid ongoing prisoner exchanges, approximately 1,032 individuals detained in prisons run by the Syrian Interim Government have returned to Syria, in exchange for 491 who were held by the Syrian Democratic Forces.

This comes as part of the implementation of the January 29, 2016 agreement, which stipulated a prisoner exchange between the two sides. The fourth group, comprising 232 prisoners, arrived in the city of Hasaka on Friday.

According to information obtained by ANHA agency from government and Autonomous Administration sources, approximately 200 to 300 individuals remain detained by the Interim Government, suggesting the possibility of a fifth group being released as part of the prisoner exchange process.

ANHA correspondents, monitoring the implementation of the agreement, have observed that each prisoner exchange is accompanied by a step towards the return of displaced persons. This was confirmed by a source involved in the agreement's implementation, who indicated that, concurrently with the arrival of the fourth group in Afrin, the automatic release of another group of prisoners will be considered.
