YRJ issued a written statement on the occasion of the 4th anniversary of its founding, calling on female journalists to represent the voice of the truth and struggle.

The statement read, " We congratulate all female journalists, truth seekers, and workers in the field of free media, on the occasion of the 4th anniversary of the founding of the Women’s Media Union, and we recall all our male and female companions who sacrificed their lives for the sake of the truth.

Female journalists in Kurdistan and the world seek to convey the truth and expose the violations against women and society through their pens and cameras. The pioneering female journalists expose the policy of the national state, which takes plundering, extermination, killing, and dividing as the basis for its racist system.

The Third World War is based on the mentality of sexual discrimination, and this fact appears in the war in Kurdistan, the Middle East, and the world. That is why  women and children pay the greatest price in these wars, where the media affiliated with the authorities ignored the will and existence of women. This authority will be defeated by the free media which can be a fortress against the masculine mentality that violates the values of society.

The Free Women's Media organized itself according to Gurbetellî Ersoz, Sakîne, and her companions approach and became a tool for revealing the truth and strengthening the struggle.

Women joined the ranks of the struggle with the spark of the revolution in Rajava and NE Syria, especially the field of free media where women organized themselves in this field and led the freedom revolution. In addition to that the Agirî Yilmaz, Eylul Nûhilat, Nûjiyan Erhan, Dîlişan Îbîş, Deniz Firat and Dilovan Gever fought against ISIS and the Turkish occupation state in order to reveal the truth.

As result, the female journalists in NE Syria, announced on June 28, 2020 the establishment of the Women’s Media Union, and we pledge on the 4th anniversary of our founding to continue the pursuit of the truth, and strengthen our struggle against all kinds of sexist, occupational, and brutal regimes that oppress society and destroy nature.

We call on all women to strengthen self-protection and organization of great resistance to represent the voice of the truth and the struggle.
