YPJ spokesperson reveals ongoing operations in al-Hol camp

Yesterday, the fourth phase of the "Humanity and Security" operation in al-Hol camp, located east of the city of Hasaka in the North and East Syria region, concluded with participating forces capturing 11 ISIS mercenaries after a two-day operation.

The spokesperson for the Women's Protection Units (YPJ), Roxan Mohammed, confirmed that the recent operation in al-Hol camp "will not be the last" for several reasons. The first is that the camp holds thousands of ISIS mercenary families who still adhere to their ideology.

The second is to prevent ISIS women and their cells from exploiting children, to foster a radicalized generation, and to establish security and stability and protect humanitarian organizations operating in the region.

The spokesperson cited examples of what is being observed in the camp and what calls for security operations, noting that "ISIS women are pushing to build a new extremist generation under the name 'Cubs of the Caliphate.'" The children receive ideological training based on ISIS's ideology in special tents in the camp, including textbooks prepared in accordance with this extremist ideology. The children also receive combat training on how to kill and slaughter, as evidenced by the drawings and handmade swords found.

Roxan Mohammed, spokesperson for the Women's Protection Units (YPJ), added that the recent operation came as a result of 30 attacks targeting civilian and humanitarian organizations inside the camp. She pointed out that the camp's transformation into a quagmire and the continued danger, despite the years of detention of these families, are due to the lack of serious international efforts, and the limited awareness-raising and security efforts on the Autonomous Administration's institutions and forces.

She said, "The Autonomous Administration is working alone, alongside some organizations and associations, to raise awareness and push for the elimination of extremist jihadist ideology among the families of ISIS mercenaries, in addition to the absence of evacuation operations for these families."

She emphasized that the struggle of the forces of North and East Syria, both military and security, with the Democratic Autonomous Administration, stems from their humanitarian and moral duty to protect the region and the world from the threat of ISIS.
