Women's Protection Unit (YPJ) fighters, on the occasion of 11 years since the establishment of the units on April 4, 2013, spoke about their objectives in the units and their endeavours to spread the thinking and ideology of women's emancipation among all women.

YPJ fighter Berivan Khabur said that the announcement of the establishment of the Women's Protection Units on April 4, the day of the birth of Leader Abdullah Ocalan, was a gift to this great person.

The fighters stated that the units aspired to become a protective umbrella for all the world's women, to assist them and to rid them of masculine mindset, and in this regard called on all women to adopt a self-protective approach in the face of the war of extermination against them.

While citing the reason for joining the Women's Protection Units, the fighter Jian Aleppo said: "I joined with the aim of freeing myself and my mind on the one hand, and freeing all women from the injustice and enslavement imposed on them on the other."

Noting that the Women's Protection Units were able to bring together all women and all components (Kurds, Arabs and Syriacs) under their umbrella, she pointed out that, more than ever, YPJ fighters were engaged in changing the dominant mindset of women and disseminating liberal thinking based on equality and justice among society.

While the fighter Jodi Jian entrusted the units' name, women were protected and defended against the dangers posed to them, and no person was allowed to infringe on women and take away their rights.
