Women: We will resist in squares until achieving Ocalan's freedom

Women from various components denounced the isolation imposed by the Turkish occupation state on the leader Abdullah Ocalan, for more than 25 years in Imrali prison, and affirmed their stay in the squares to demand his physical freedom and spread his ideas.

Leader Abdullah Ocalan, who has been detained in Imrali Island prison in the Sea of Marmara since February 15, 1999, has been subjected to strict isolation, and no information has been received from him and his three companions for more than 3 years. Women from the city of al-Shaddadi and Jal Agha in al-Jazira canton, denounced the absolute isolation imposed on him.

Citizen Sahar Al-Hamid from the city of al-Shaddadi said about this: “The leader is still in Imrali prison and is subjected to severe isolation, because he calls for the establishment of multicultural societies based on justice and equality, and his thought urges peoples to recognize their diversity and uniqueness, and to transcend narrow nationalism.”

She denounced "the silence of international and human rights organizations regarding the leader's situation."

In her turn, Umayyah al-Hajoub pointed out that "the Turkish state imposes isolation on the leader Abdullah Ocalan, because he emphasized in his theses the importance of defending women's rights and empowering them in society, indicating that comprehensive liberation cannot be achieved without the struggle for justice."

Umayyah al-Hajoub added, "Leader Abdullah Ocalan is the one who sought to achieve a democratic nation and coexistence to achieve justice, so we demand his release."

While Fawza al-Jadaan said: “The Turkish authorities prevent the lawyers of Leader Abdullah Ocalan and his family from meeting with him, with the aim of distancing him from his people who believed in his thought and philosophy.”

As for citizen Faryal Qassoum, from the Arab community in the city of Jal Agha, she said, “Leader Abdullah Ocalan resisted, and is still resisting, all circumstances for the sake of our freedom and the freedom of all oppressed peoples.”

She added, "The leader sacrificed a lot for us, and our role today is to struggle and resist in order to achieve his physical freedom, by spreading his ideas among all segments of society."

For her part, Afifa Mohammad, also from Jal Agha, said: “Leader Abdullah Ocalan played a major role in making us, women, know our rights, and thanks to him we have become individuals with a will and ability to demand our rights.”

She added, "We will not tire until the physical freedom of leader Abdullah Ocalan is achieved."

In her turn, Maryam Kabro Girgis, from the Syriac component in the city of Jal Agha, said: “Leader Abdullah Ocalan is the owner of thought and philosophy, and the components of the northern and eastern Syrian region, from the Arabs, Kurds and Syriacs, have organized themselves according to this thought, and through our unity and solidarity in light of his great project.” The Democratic Nation Project, which united our goals in a pluralistic, democratic Syria for all Syrians.”

Maryam concluded her speech, "We, women, must sacrifice for the sake of the leader Abdullah Ocalan, who sacrificed for us, and remain in the squares to demand his physical freedom. He resists all circumstances in inhuman isolation, and this is the least we can do for him, and spreading his idea is one of our basic tasks."
