Speaking to ANHA Agency, women from Raqqa recalled the struggle of the martyr Amina Ali (nom de guerre: Sara Dilsouz), who previously worked as a correspondent for ANHA in 2017 before joining the Kurdistan Free Women’s Party (PAJK) in 2018. She was martyred in the Medya Defense Zones in 2020.

Zahra al-Yousef, Co-Chair of the Martyrs’ Families Council in Raqqa, stated: “Through her sacrifice, Amina Ali embodied the values of dignity and pride. We always hold our heads high in honor of our martyrs, women and men alike, who struggled for the liberation of the land. Today, women have become a pillar of support for free women across the world.”

Shirin Qawas, Co-Chair of the Martyr Ahmed al-Janem Council, described Amina as a pioneering woman devoted to her cause, saying: “Amina embraced freedom wholeheartedly. Here in Raqqa, we endured a difficult period during ISIS terrorists dominance. But through the Autonomous Administration and the philosophy of Leader Abdullah Ocalan, we came to understand the true meaning of freedom. Our goal today is to build a unified Syria that represents all its components within the framework of the Democratic Nation and the brotherhood of peoples.”

Amal al-Dayf, a member of the Martyrs’ Families Council, emphasized that Amina’s decision to join the resistance stemmed from patriotic conviction: “Amina joined the resistance in 2018 out of love for the cause and the homeland. Her martyrdom in 2020 was an honor for us all. She contributed to dismantling the image of ISIS, and we pledge to her to continue on this path and safeguard the blood of the martyrs.”

On Tuesday, September 2, the People’s Defense Forces (HPG) announced the martyrdom of a fighter from Raqqa along with four others at different times in 2020 in the Medya Defense Zones. Their statement read:  “Our dear comrades Serxebun, Sara, Hêmin, Ronî, and Serhad – as distinguished sons and daughters of our Arab, Azeri, and Kurdish peoples – joined the Apoist movement and dedicated their hearts to the philosophy of the Democratic Nation of Leader Abdullah Ocalan and the internationalist character of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK). They adopted a sacrificial struggle for the freedom of peoples and believed that fighting wherever our peoples are under attack is a revolutionary duty.”
