A woman was killed and three other civilians were injured when a landmine, a leftover from the war, exploded under a citizen’s car in the Azman area of southwestern rural Deir-ez-Zor.

Local sources reported that the victims hail from the town of al-Baghiliya in western Deir-ez-Zor. The injured were transported to a regional hospital for treatment, while the car sustained material damage.

The incident highlights the widespread presence of landmines and unexploded ordnance across several areas of Syria, amid the absence of effective measures or a comprehensive national strategy to remove and safely dispose of war remnants.
