Widespread solidarity movement in Poland in support of Rojava

Poland has witnessed a broad solidarity movement in support of Rojava, manifested in protest demonstrations held in front of several embassies, the launch of donation campaigns, and the organization of cultural and literary events highlighting the situation in the region. These activities are scheduled to continue in the coming days.

A wide-ranging solidarity campaign has been launched across Poland, encompassing a series of events in a number of cities, including Warsaw, Wrocław, Katowice, Kraków, Kielce, Gdańsk, Szczecin, Poznań, Bielsko-Biała, Szklarska Poręba, Jaworzno, and Łódź.

The activities were initiated by a coalition of anarchist groups in cooperation with the Kurdish diaspora abroad, with the participation of feminist and left-wing groups.

In Warsaw, three demonstrations were organized in front of the Syrian Embassy, the European Commission Representation, the US Embassy, and the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The events also included a film screening followed by an open discussion, a Kurdish charity music concert in support of the Kurdish Red Crescent, and a street theater performance staged in front of the Turkish cultural attaché’s office.

In Kraków, a demonstration was held to denounce the attacks on Rojava, followed by a discussion session on the situation in northeastern Syria, in addition to the raising of a solidarity banner in the city. In Katowice, a protest and leaflet distribution campaign were organized, accompanied by the display of a solidarity banner.

Wrocław witnessed a demonstration and a film screening, alongside an awareness activity held during the distribution of meals as part of the “Food Not Bombs” initiative. Similar demonstrations and film screenings were organized in Gdańsk. In Łódź, Bielsko-Biała, and Szczecin, awareness activities were carried out in parallel with meal distributions under the same initiative.

In Kielce, an awareness meeting was held focusing on the achievements of the Women’s Revolution in Rojava. Solidarity banners were also raised in Szklarska Poręba and Jaworzno, while the women’s diving group “Bojka” from Poznań presented an underwater version of the banner during one of their missions in Mexico.

In addition, an online donation campaign was launched to support the Kurdish Red Crescent, and cultural circles circulated a petition signed by more than 600 academics and cultural workers in defense of Rojava.

Further activities are scheduled to take place in the coming days as part of the ongoing solidarity campaign.
