What is happening in Syria?

The violent confrontations have been ongoing since Thursday night in the southern and coastal regions of Syria.

According to local sources, intense clashes have taken place in Latakia, Tartus, Jableh, Homs, Hama, and Daraa between armed groups and Damascus government forces.

In Latakia, armed groups reportedly took control of some areas previously held by Damascus forces, including the Satamo military base and another military zone under government control.

A video circulating online allegedly shows members of the Damascus military command being captured by armed groups.

Over 100 were killed, homes were burned, and civilians were Tortured

Reports indicate that more than 100 people have been killed in the fighting in Latakia, Tartus, and Homs, with many others wounded. Videos shared online show bodies lying in the streets.

In Latakia, a vehicle belonging to the Turkistan Islamic Party was ambushed by armed groups. A video shows a man speaking in Turkish, stating that they were caught in an ambush.

Other footage shows several Damascus authorities soldiers captured by armed groups.

In Homs, a civilian's home was set on fire, with an image of the burned house circulating online. Another video depicts a man being tortured on the ground.

Damascus authorities sent military reinforcements

As the fighting escalated, the Damascus government deployed reinforcements from Damascus, Hama, Idlib, Aleppo, and Deir ez-Zor to the conflict zones. A state of emergency was declared, with restrictions on movement imposed in affected areas.

Turkey deployed troops to Syria

Meanwhile, reports indicate that Turkish occupation forces have sent military reinforcements into Syria via the Bab al-Hawa border crossing. Videos have surfaced showing Turkish military vehicles entering Syrian territory.

Situation continues to deteriorate
