"We're all responsible for protecting our rights in new Syria"

On February 5, members of the Autonomous Administration of Jazera Canton, political parties, women's movements, and social institutions issued a statement announcing their participation in the general mobilization, which was called for by the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria on December 2 of the previous year.

The statement, delivered in the city of Qamishlo, declared that administrators and members of the institutions that signed the statement had joined the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in response to the general mobilization call.

Following the statement, groups of administrators and institution members formed and headed to the frontlines. ANHA agency interviewed one of the participants in the mobilization in Tabqa Canton, Arya Mali Ahmed, the co-chair of the Peoples’ Council in Tabqa. She spoke about the details of their involvement and the steps taken after joining.

She noted that recruits undergo training on assembling and disassembling weapons, followed by shooting practice. Afterward, they are assigned to military positions or guard patrols according to the deployment decisions of the Syrian Democratic Forces.

Regarding the importance of joining, Arya Mali Ahmed stated, "We are all witnessing the ongoing attacks on the region and the massacres committed by the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries against our people. For this reason, protecting the region is a responsibility that falls on all of us, not just the Syrian Democratic Forces." She emphasized, "Everyone is responsible for protecting the land, preserving its dignity, and safeguarding our rights in the new Syria."

She called on everyone to join the military forces (the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Women’s Protection Units) to safeguard the achievements of the revolution, which was built through the efforts of the region’s sons and daughters.

"A matter of existence or extinction", with this phrase, citizen Badr Al-Faraj, one of those who joined the mobilization, expressed the importance of protection and enlisting in the military forces. He emphasized the need to defend the revolution’s achievements against the ongoing attacks and called on all communities, especially the youth, to enlist.

Meanwhile, Susan Ibrahim Suleiman, a member of the Peoples’ Council in Jazera Canton, stressed the importance of unity and standing together until the attacks end and victory is achieved. She urged people to join the general mobilization and vowed to protect the region and its people, stating, "We pledge to our people that we will remain their steadfast support as long as we breathe."
