"We won't abandon Tishrin Dam, which nourished by our martyrs’ blood"

Since January 8, convoys of civilians from various regions of North and East Syria have been heading toward Tishrin Dam to stop the attacks launched by the Turkish occupation army since December 8, 2024, and to protect the dam from collapse. Protests are being organized in the form of rotational shifts on the dam’s structure.

Mohammad Ali, a resident of Al-Shaddadi in the Jazira region, explained: “This dam holds great vital importance for us, so we are ready to sacrifice to protect it. The barbaric attacks of the Turkish occupation will not stand in our way. We, the people of North and East Syria, have taken resistance as our principle.”

Ali added: “We will continue this resistance at Tishrin Dam, where many of our people have sacrificed their lives to prevent it from being occupied by Turkey or destroyed. Our goal is to stop the ongoing attacks and crimes.”

Meanwhile, Nasser Al-Khadr, a resident of the Deir ez-Zor region, stated: “The Turkish occupation has repeatedly targeted our people protesting at Tishrin Dam in an attempt to end the demonstrations. In response, we say that we will not back down. The more you target us, the more our numbers will grow in these protests at Tishrin Dam.”

Al-Khadr emphasized: “With our free will, we will continue our resistance at Tishrin Dam. We also commend the role of the Syrian Democratic Forces, who are demonstrating bravery and heroism here on the frontlines to protect the dam and shield us from Turkey’s crimes. It is therefore our duty to support them.”

Ahmed Al-Hussein, a resident of Deir ez-Zor, affirmed: “Despite the risks, we will continue heading to Tishrin Dam in convoys. We will persist in our struggle and resistance despite the attacks and challenges. We will stop the Turkish attacks and protect the dam from collapse.”

Al-Hussein also sent a message to the Turkish occupation: “We will not allow you to occupy the dam, and we will not give up Tishrin Dam, which has been nourished by the blood of our martyrs.”
