MANBIJ

The number of arrivals from Lebanon to the region of North and East Syria until October 12 reached 19,132 people, including 58 who hold Lebanese citizenship, amid the continued flow of arrivals due to the military escalation in Lebanon.

The Democratic Autonomous Administration of the region of North and East Syria has taken upon itself the responsibility of receiving Lebanese arrivals and Syrian returnees through the crossings connecting with the region, including the Abu Kahf crossing south of Manbij Canton, and providing assistance to them.

The Autonomous Administration’s representation in Lebanon and the Newroz Cultural and Social Association are continuously organizing trips for Syrians wishing to return to the region from Lebanon.

The co-chair of the Social Affairs and Toilers Authority in Manbij Canton, Muntaha Bashmaf, was welcoming the returnees at the Abu Kahf crossing. She explained: “We asked humanitarian organizations to provide assistance to the returnees, but we did not receive any response.”

Muntaha Bashmaf explained: “The Kurdish Red Crescent was the first to provide assistance, and its teams are present at the crossings to provide the necessary medical assistance to the returnees.”

Returnees from all Syrian regions

The co-chair of the Social Affairs Authority stated that the people who come to North and East Syria are from all Syrian regions, and they are received and provided with transportation to their destination and their procedures are facilitated.

The arrivals head either to their homes or to their relatives in the North and East Syria region, while those who do not have a place to go, the Autonomous Administration allocates centers to accommodate them.

Ahmad al-Dhahabi, a bus driver transporting returnees from Lebanon to North and East Syria, spoke to ANHA's agency about the reality he sees during the transportation trips, and said: “There are many in Lebanese territory who ask to go to the North and East Syria region.”

Ahmad al-Dhahabi explained: "There are injured people and families, especially in the areas of Burj Hammoud and Dora on the border between Syria and Lebanon, and their numbers reach more than 3,000 people."

Al-Dhahabi stressed the unity and cooperation of Syrians among themselves in the circumstances they are living: "All Syrians must cooperate and support the autonomous administration to rescue those trapped under the fire of war."

The military escalation between Israel and the Lebanese Hezbollah has prompted tens of thousands of Syrians, who were working in Lebanon or headed there at the beginning of the Syrian crisis, to return to their country, after the escalation led to the killing of dozens of Syrians.
